A page from chapter 6

Read before you spend a dollar.

Every chapter ends in decisions, and every decision comes with a starting point and wording you can lift straight into your own policy. The blanks are yours to fill in.

Templates are a starting point, not legal advice. Have a local attorney read your policy before it goes into your boarding agreement.

Chapter 6 · Your House Rules

Vaccinations

This is the rule clients ask about most, and the one that matters most. Most states require rabies vaccination of dogs by law, and where the state doesn't, the county or city often does. Either way, require it. The rest is your choice.

Starting point: require rabies, DHPP and Bordetella. Accept proof only from a veterinarian. Check expiry dates against the last day of the stay, not the first.

Policy wording Load into my Goodstay
All dogs must be current on rabies, DHPP and Bordetella vaccines for the full length of their stay. Bordetella must be given at least [7] days before check-in. We accept proof from your veterinarian only.

While you read, Goodstay sets itself up

Your policies, loaded

Press Load and the wording becomes the House Rules your clients sign online. It stays switched off until you've read it.

Your settings, side by side

Each chapter shows what Goodstay is set to right now, with a link to change it: vaccines, evaluations, late fees, deposits.

Your steps, ticked off

A short "this week" list keeps you moving, from the first call to the zoning office to the soft opening.

Questions

When should I buy it?

Any time from the first serious idea to a few weeks before opening. Goodstay stays free while you set up, for up to a year.

What counts as opening day?

The day you press We're open in Goodstay, or your first paid checkout, whichever comes first. A free soft opening with friends' dogs doesn't start the clock.

What if I don't open within a year?

The kit is yours to keep. Your Goodstay account moves to an ordinary 14-day free trial, and you choose a plan whenever you're ready.

I already run a kennel. Is this for me?

Probably not: it's written for opening. Start a free trial of Goodstay instead, and we'll move your data over for free.

Is this legal advice?

No. The wording is a starting point. Licensing rules vary by state and change, so every fact carries its source and the date we checked it, and we ask you to have a local attorney read your policy.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Within 30 days, for any reason: reply to your receipt email. The kit and its free months are removed, and your Goodstay account carries on as an ordinary 14-day trial.
